I scratched at my head as I looked out the window. The weather was not looking too good, not too good at all. The news had stated that Hurricane Sandy was ravaging the coast and bringing horrible weather into the area. I had seen a lot of tornado chaser shows, and the weather seemed nowhere near as dangerous or as bad as other tornadoes and hurricanes, but I wanted to stay inside and away from any potential dangers. However, I had a feeling that I'd have to venture outside soon or later, especially with my uncle travelling in this weather. I was especially worried since my uncle was driving through this storm to get to town, and I needed to be on standby in case he called for help.

The power was still on, which was a very good sign. I needed the electricity on right now more than I ever had. I needed to be ready in case my uncle called, so this was a very trying time for me. I sat in my house and waited for an entire hour as I read a book. After a lot of waiting, I heard the phone ring. I ran over to it just as I heard a rather awful noise. It sounded like something disconnected, and quickly enough, the power shut off. My entire house was filled with a hollow blackness, as my heart sank. I couldn't believe the power would go out at such a crucial moment! "Oh, not now!" I panicked as thoughts filled my head about what was happening. I hadn't been this freaked out since that time I was turned into a housefly a couple of years ago!

If that was my uncle calling, then he'd seriously need my help right now! I had to fix the power, but it wasn't exactly the smartest thing to do in a thunderstorm! At the moment, however, I really needed to! I suddenly remembered something my grandfather told me: that lightning only strikes the highest thing around. I seriously doubted that one little power breaker would attract a thunderbolt. It was up to me to do some maintenance right now, and I had to do it right away! I ran over to my closet and tossed on my rainstorm apparel. I put on my yellow rubber coat, which had definitely seen better years. It had some scuffs and rips on it, but it would have to do for the moment.

I tossed on my rain hat as I put on my squeaky rubber boots. After equipping myself with some rain gear, I threw open the door and went to the back of the house. The raindrops flew down from the heavens as I found my backyard filled with puddles. When I got to the backyard, I walked over to the garage. I keep my electrical equipment inside, in case of emergencies such as today. I opened the door to the garage and picked up the large box of tools. As I did so, something small and circular toppled out of the toolbox. It was some sort of weird pin with a lightning bolt insignia on it. The pin did look pretty retro, so I decided to pocket it. Maybe the badge was some sort of collector's item.

Honestly though, it was probably just some old badge. After tossing the badge into my pocket, I grabbed the toolbox and left the garage. I ran towards a power outlet attached to the side of the house. My idea was that I'd get it fixed and immediately run back inside. With the toolbox in hand, I ran over to the box. The box seemed to be in a relatively stable condition, which was a stroke of luck indeed! I moved my gloved hand over towards the box, as I wanted to see what exactly was wrong with it. As soon I gripped the box, I heard a deafening sound overhead. I nearly jumped out of my skin! What happened next freaked me out even more. As I prepared to open the box to the outlet, the box began to crackle with electricity. Suddenly, that deafening roar came back, and this time it sounded much louder and much closer than before! Without warning, a large barrage of energy from the sky struck me and the box. I couldn't believe it! I had just been struck by lightning! I had a feeling this was the end for me! All the things I didn't get to do; all the creatures I didn't get to transform into!

However, the electricity coursing through my veins wasn't painful at all. In fact, I felt strangely energetic! The electricity that worked its way through my skin felt like it was massaging my pores! Just as I was being relaxed by the strange bolt of lightning, I felt something begin to change. My legs were beginning to itch, almost to an uncomfortable degree! It felt as though the hair on my legs was growing longer! In fact, the hair began to push out and rip through my pants! I should've known; this lightning is transforming me! The fur ripped through my pants like they were nothing as thick strands of many unkempt fur pushed through the fabric of my trousers. The fur was beige and was pushing through my skin at an alarming rate; the big coat of fur tore my jeans in half! My ripped pants fell to the ground as I reached down to cover my nethers. That's when I remembered: I don't have to worry about any sort of nudity! My fur covers up my shame completely!

The fur continued making its way down to my shoes, as I felt the fur grow atop my feet. My toes merged together and began to grow massive. Rough paw pads formed across the bottom of my feet as I felt the rough aberrations push against the soles of my shoes. My feet began to expand in size as they became giant animal paws. The paws burst through my shoes in one swift motion as my shoes were turned into shreds of useless fabric. My massive feet were now unexposed as the raindrops battered against my furry feet. Every time a drop hit my foot, a tiny spark of electricity would shoot forth. My body was still coursing with this strange electricity, and I could feel it circulate even more through my being. The electricity began to pool around my chest area as the bolts of violent energy split my coat in half. As this happened, I could feel tiny sparks of electricity work their way into the skin across along my chest and stomach. These piercing bolts of energy began to increase the growth rate of my fur, as thick strands burst forth from my chest.

The fur started to spread across my entire torso as I felt every individual strand grow much longer. Soon enough my torso was coated in beige fur, with brown accents here and there. My finger began to twitch uncontrollably as some of them began to fuse together. I once had five fingers on each hand; now I only had four! My fingers grew larger and became more like the paws of some sort of animal. The fur spread over my arms as my fingers became coated in brown fur. My animal paws rubbed up against the steel of the fuse box as I felt a strange discharge of energy erupt from it. I felt as though I was feeding electricity into the machine! The lightning bolt was transferring its energy through my paws like some sort of conductor rod. The lights in my house turned on and shone brightly. Well, at least I fixed the power! However, I now had to deal with whatever I was transforming into! My tailbone began to pulsate as I felt a strange and bizarre new tail form.

The tail was insanely long and very thin. At the end of it was some sort of strange lightning-bolt shape. Had I turned into Cluny the Scourge? I highly doubted it, but whatever I was turning into was certainly different. The tail whipped around behind me, and I found it strangely difficult to control. The tail would whip in circles against my wishes, as if I had no control over it at all. The electricity began to run up my neck and entered my head. I felt my facial features begin to alter as my nose became rigid and shrunk slightly. My nose became leathery and black, gaining a more animalistic appearance in the process. Multiple smells began to filter in through my nostrils and the scents of nature flowed through me. I could never get enough of becoming something with a strong sense of smell; it was always strangely euphoric for me. My tiny black nose wiggled about as it drew in an innumerable amount of strange smells.

The electricity moved from my nose, and worked its way into my ears. The crackling of electricity around me became louder and louder; even quiet sounds became extremely loud. My ears began to grow as they became massive. My ears were covered in beige fur tipped with brown as I felt them grow even larger. The sounds around me reverberated through my eardrums; it was a painful sensation to say the least. The transformation ceased as I fell onto my hands and knees. The electricity surged through my being. I felt as though I was super-charged with an unlimited burst of power! The only question was what exactly had caused this transformation? Was it the fuse box, the lightning bolt, or both? As I looked around at my tattered clothes, I quickly found the real culprit. I noticed the badge with the lightning bolt on it, sitting near the torn-up shreds of my clothing. Why wasn't the badge destroyed by my electrical discharge?

I scratched at the fur on my head as I reached down my paw down to pick it up. Despite the electricity coursing through my fingertips, the badge remained un-fried. My fingers picked up the badge and I looked at it. Did this badge really transform me? It definitely wasn't a normal button of any sort. Whatever it was, one thing was clear: I was still going to keep it! I gripped the badge tightly in my paw as I hopped off the deck. I ran back to the front of the house and threw open the door. Once I got inside, I breathed a sigh of relief. The power was back on, and most important of all, I was still alive! I couldn't believe I survived a bolt that powerful, but I pulled through it somehow! Just as I was reveling in my victory, I heard the phone begin to ring. I closed the front door and ran as fast as my paws could carry me over to the phone. I whipped my tail around anxiously as I grabbed the phone off of the charger. The number belonged to my uncle; he was calling for help! I tried to hit the talk button but found that it was extremely difficult to do with big paws like mine. My beefy fingers would keep hitting the wrong buttons, annoying me to no end. Eventually, I managed to hit the talk button through sheer dumb luck.

I picked up and heard the smooth and smarmy voice of my uncle bellow through the other side of the line. "Hey there, Phil! How's my nephew?" He didn't seem to be in rough shape, in fact, he sounded downright happy! "Hey uncle! I was worried; I thought you were in trouble or something!" I could hear him laugh through the other line, "Of course not, Phil! My car just broke down on Stine Street, that's all! I've got it handled, though!" Suddenly, my heart began beating faster and faster. I could feel the electricity inside me begin to circulate and spark from my pores. "What?! That's not something you handle easily, you know! I can't leave you out there in weather like this! I'll come to pick you up!" My uncle once again responded with laughter, "No, Phil! I've got it handled, trust me! I'm going to walk home and everything will be fine!" I was tempted to toss the phone to the ground in response to this; I couldn't believe what he was saying! "Look, I'm coming to get you! It's not safe in this weather, and you don't know anyone in town!" He sighed as he began smacking his lips together. "Phil, listen! I'm fine, you worry far too much!"

My anger began to build; I didn't like this situation in the least. The electricity that was building inside me began to filter out through my paw. The flow of electric energy escaped my paw and went directly into the phone. The surge of energy messed with the phone line, and my uncle's voice became crackly and distorted. Within moments, the flow of my electricity shorted out the phone. My phone crackled as the line went dead. I dropped the phone and began to panic. I just shorted out the phone line! I began to walk back and forth as I thought of what to do. My mind was panicked and was caught in a flow of indecisiveness. I needed something to relax my mind, or I'd be no good to anyone! That's when I remembered something: I still had no clue what I had become! I ran over to a nearby wall-mounted mirror and gazed at my reflection. Standing before me was a Raichu furry, covered in beige and brown fur and sporting the hairstyle of a common human. A Pokémon was definitely a new transformation for me, and I was curious as to whether I could be caught in a Pokéball or not... However, none of that mattered at the moment! My uncle was stuck alone in the rain, and he needed my help! I turned my head towards the door and gulped. I couldn't help but worry about my uncle at this point, it didn't matter what he said. I ran over to the door, gripped my paw around the handle, and turned the knob. When I opened the door, I was greeted by a massive influx of rain once more. I ran through the soaking rain and towards my car.

When I reached my vehicle, panic once again filled my being. My headlights were on, and I hadn't recharged my battery in forever! I had left the lights on overnight, so my battery probably has nothing left! Just when I was about to lose hope, I remembered that I was an electric Pokémon! I could just channel energy into my vehicle and everything would be fine! I threw open the hood of my vehicle and looked over at the car battery. I moved my tail towards it and focused my inner energy on it. The electricity traveled through my tail and into the car battery, as energy once more returned to the vehicle. With that done, I opened up the car door and inserted my key in the ignition. My car sparked to life, and I quickly put it in gear. I pulled out and made my way across the water filled highway. I was rather relieved to see that the streets hadn't been flooded yet; that would have been a most unfortunate turn of events! I drove as fast as the speed limit would allow me towards Stine Street. I had no time to waste if I wanted to pick up my uncle and drive him to safety.

I drove down the stormy highway until eventually reached Stine Street. I noticed that there was a blue car sitting on the side of the water-drenched highway. The vehicle had a flat tire, and I could tell away that the vehicle was my uncle's old beater. I drove towards it and noticed that there was no one in the driving seat. I looked through the windows and found that it was completely empty! Where did he go? I parked the vehicle on the road and prepared to exit it. That is, until I heard someone approaching me. My ears picked up the sounds of soaked feet smacking against the concrete of the highway. I rolled down my window and looked out of it. Approaching me was a bizarre sight indeed, it was a Vaporeon furry! Clad in blue slimy scales, this Pokémon creature made his way towards me. His tail smacked against the puddles along the street as continued to strut towards my vehicle. He rubbed his eyes as he took notice of my form. "Phil? Is that you?" asked the creature in a voice that sounded exactly like my uncle's.

No way, is that creature my uncle? "It can't be; I thought I was the only one in the family who transforms!" I shouted as my uncle approached the vehicle. The Vaporeon shook his head, "No, you're not. In fact, your father and I used to transform all the time when we were growing up!" The water-logged monster walked around to the side of my vehicle as he grinned from ear to ear. "So, you're a water Pokémon, huh?" I asked before letting out a deep sigh. "I told you I had it handled, Phil! My plan was that I'd strut through the rainy highway in this form; the water wouldn't bother me in the slightest like this!" he exclaimed as he hopped inside the car. "I guess you're right. So, want me to drive you to your hotel?" I asked as the Vaporeon moved his wet paw across the inside of the door. "Sure, just don't carry my stuff up. As an electric Pokémon, you may accidentally leave some residual electricity on my stuff. You wouldn't want to electrocute an old man to death, would you?"

I rubbed my paw against the cuff of my head as a thought began to surface in my head. "Can you explain to me one thing: why do you know so much about Pokémon?" My uncle laughed as he kicked his finned feet around. "Well, I used to watch it all the time with you when you were just a little guy! I played a couple of the games to see why you kids were so into it, and I eventually became a bit of a fan myself." My look of panic slowly turned into a goofy grin. Every moment I spend with my uncle is always filled with an indescribable amount of joy. "So, can you tell me more about your transformation misadventures with my dad? What did he like to turn into?" I asked, as I started up the vehicle. "Sure. There were a lot of them; mind if I tell you my favorites?" I nodded, "Go ahead. I could use a good story while I drive us through this rainy wasteland." My uncle began to regale me with various stories of bizarre situations he got into with my father. I never knew how prevalent transformations were in my family. The whole time I felt glad about transforming into a creature like this. Heck, having this much electricity coursing through ones veins can feel extremely liberating. And I never knew bonding with family could be so...electrifying!
