It was a somewhat breezy day on the decaying lands of the wasteland that used to be humanity. What once had been a land of new ideas and promise was destroyed when the bombs dropped. Despite this, humanity trudged on despite... Mutations. Too such mutants were anthropomorphic animals, both of whom were once human. The silly joke-cracking scientist who once prided himself on his work had become an anthro monkey named Jam. His companion was once a football star but was changed by the mutation, becoming an anthro eagle named Pheagle complete with massive bird wings. To be fair though, the two weren't actually mutated by the fallout of the radioactive bombs. They were test subjects in Vault 80, created in an attempt to craft the ultimate human-animal hybrids who could dwell on earth despite the harsh environment. The two were exiled from the vault once the dwellers complained about the smell and bird-squawks that drifted through the halls.

It didn't bother the two much as they're bodies made it so they could survive the harsh killer mutants and monsters sent their way. However, the weirdness of the wasteland was the one thing that always caught them off-guard. Like the day they found the "Relic". The intrepid animal-human hybrids had just dealt with a large pack of ravenous Deathclaws by drawing the berserks towards a large pile of mines. The explosives set off a large charge that decimated the already desolate environment. Much to the surprise of the creatures, the explosion not only destroyed the Deathclaws but uncovered a great glowing artifact.

The monkey and bird stared at the bizarre object, it was unlike anything they had seen before. It was some kind of alien device, some sort of green box. Emblazoned on the box was the picture of some kind of person in silvery armor. At the top off the box had the words "Fallout 4". The two test subjects exchanged glances. "Ook ak ak ook! What is it, Pheagle?" Asked the monkey as he excitedly curled his tail. "I don't know, but we should be caref---" At that moment, the light from the sun caught the size of the strange box causing it to shine slightly. Jam looked at Pheagle who was entranced by the object. Jam knew that Pheagle liked his shiny objects due to being half-bird and couldn't resist the sight of one. Pheagle started to march forward but Jam grabbed him. "Woah, Pheagle, control yourself!" Pheagle was built more muscular than Jam and continued to push forward. Pheagle dragged Jam to the object, which started to glimmer even more. Once the two reached close proximity to the box, it shone greatly and blinded the two.

When the light faded, the two anthros found themselves looking at what appeared to be their mirror image. Except, their wasn't a mirror at all! The two had switched bodies somehow. Jam looked down at his new avian form and glanced at his skin which was covered in feathers. His wrinkly simian lips had been replaced by a large sharp beak and he new possessed sharp bird talons in the place of his hands and hand-feet. These talons were yellow in color, matching the color of his new beak. He also possessed a tail covered in feathers, which felt weird to Jam. It was as if someone taped a feather-duster to his butt! The most impressive thing about his new body was his massive wings, which he could bend and extend on a whim. They felt like a whole another pair of appendages, it felt awesome to the former monkey!

Jam liked the look his new bird-like form, unfortunately Pheagle was not in the same boat. Pheagle's body was covered in thick brown mangy fur that stank horribly and was covered in fleas. Pheagle now had a long prehensile simian tail that he could flex and bend on a whim. He found that his feet were now a second pair of hands. His beak had now been replaced by a simian muzzle, complete with a non-existent nose. All their was on Pheagle's face now was just a pair of nostril slits. The new monkey screeched as he stared in awe at his new body, he couldn't believe that he was now a smelly simian! "We've switched bodies, ook ak ak ook!" Said Pheagle as he uncontrollably made monkey sounds. The monkey then proceeded to scratch himself like a flea-ridden dog. Jam laughed as he flexed his new wings. "I bet with these new wings, I could fly around the entire wasteland in 4 minutes! Who needs fast-travel when I can soar with style?" Jam then spread his wings, grinned and leapt into the air. Unfortunately, Jam hadn't ever flown before and promptly fell on his beaked face. "Ouch!" Pheagle angrily crossed his furry arms. "That's no way to treat my body, Jam! Plus, you have no practice flying. And who knows what kind of things you would have run into even if you had flown? I don't want my body getting stung by a Cazador, ya' know."

Jam frowned and lowered his head. "Sorry, Pheagle. I was just trying to fly around a bit. All I ever do is climb trees, I want to know what it's like to sail the air." Pheagle's ears perked at the mention of trees. "Did you say climbing trees?! I forgot you could do that!" Pheagle's eyes immediately darted to something he saw earlier. He spotted a shiny object up in a nearby tree, something he normally as a bird couldn't resist. Unfortunately, due to the size of Pheagle's wings he would have blown the trinket off the tree if he attempted to fly up to nab it. The vault-suit wearing monkey dashed on all fours towards the tree, tempted by the idea of getting the shiny object. He gripped the bark of the tree firmly using his four hands and quickly scaled up the tree. The monkey wiggled his tail vigorously as he came upon his quarry: A shiny Sunset Sarsaparilla Star Bottle Cap.

The monkey quickly snatched the shiny trinket and pocketed, grunting and grinning whilst doing so. The monkey sung "Johnny Guitar" to himself while sliding down the tree, almost oblivious to the fact that he had switched bodies just few moments ago. Once back on the ground he stared at the bottle-cap as Jam walked up in his body. "Looks like someone is having fun!" Pheagle nodded vigorously as he inspected his shiny bauble. "I am, surprisingly! I could do without this thick mangy gross hair though." Said Pheagle as he gazed down as the shaggy fur that was barely kept constrained by his vault-suit. "Well, at least you don't have these pesky talons! I can't even scratch my butt without sharply poking my rear!" Exclaimed Jam as he crossed his arms. "Well, let's get switched back now before something else happens."

Suddenly, the two snapped to attention as they heard a trig snap. The two slowly turned to find a green hulking super-mutant upon them. "Furries! I'll destroy you in the name of The Master, abominations!" The super-mutant readied his minigun as he aimed it as the two quickly dodged the monster's assault. The two ducked behind a rock as Jam started to panic. "Oh man, we're outmatched and in bodies we aren't used to!" Shouted Jam as he nervously flapped his wings. "Don't worry, Jam. That box messed with us, imagine what it could do to the Super Mutant." Pheagle said as he quickly started from behind the rock and grabbed the box before heading back behind the rock without the mutant noticing. "It's a good thing your body has a high sneaking skill, Jam!" Jam nodded as he grabbed the box from Pheagle's monkey paws. "May I do the honors?" Pheagle gave him the thumbs up as Jam aimed the box at the mutant. He used his keen eagle-eyes as a sort of targeting system and focused on the mutant's head. With a large amount of force, he threw the box at the mutant.

The box hit the mutant in the head and fell to the ground, landing right at the foot of the mutant. "Ha! Silly lesser mutants, what was that supposed to do?" The super mutant laughed and laughed at the two. However, the box started to glow as the mutant's laughing soon became filled with snorts. The mutant's yellow and orange skin soon became bright pink as the mutant's form changed. The mutant's lips soon grew back as his nose grew larger. His nose became thick and large and merged with mouth to become a muzzle. His nose flattened out into a pig's snout as his nostrils grew much larger. The mutant's muscles began to disappear as he fattened up, growing extremely fat in the process.  His massive ever-growing weight ripped through his leather armor, causing it to rip to shreds and fall onto the ground. "Oh no, oink! What's happ--- SQUEAL!" Oinked the super mutant as he lost the ability to speak. The super mutant's fingers and toes started to draw closer to their adjacent digits. They fused together, becoming a set of four hard black hooves.

The super mutant fell onto all fours as his spine reshaped, locking him into his new stance. The mutant's head grew larger as did his ears. His ears became floppy as they lost their humanoid shape. From the backside of the mutant emerged a small curly tail that dangled from his backside like a loose spring on a broken Protectron. The super mutant was now a regular pig! He still possessed his mutant mind, yet it was trapped in the body of a creature the mutant did not recognize. Jam and Pheagle smiled as they leapt out from behind the rock and approached the transformed mutant. "He turned into a... Thing." Said Pheagle as he inspected the creature. "Oh, I studied books on these creatures. They were around before the bombs fell. I believe they are killed "pigs". Humans would slaughter them for their meat and eat them." Pheagle looked down at the creature. "Ugh, I don't think I want to eat that thing. It used to be a super mutant, we'd probably get radiation poisoning. Plus, it would technically be the last of its kind." Jam smiled as he stared at the pig. "I know what we can do with it, let's make it our pet! I'll name him Pigmeat and he'll be my pet pig and travelling companion." Pheagle chuckled as he looked at Jam. "Fine, you can keep the pig. Before we bring him home, let's switch back. I feel so dirty and hairy." Jam grinned and ruffled Pheagle's furry head. The two then grabbed the strange box, which glowed once more. It switched the two of them back. The two were ecstatic to be themselves again. Pheagle flexed his wing and gripped his talons tight as Jam proudly wiggled his smelly hand-feet. The pig now known as Pigmeat remained in his porcine state, much to his displeasure.

After switching the two back, the box floated into the sky and disappeared in a blink of energy. The pig was left dumbfounded as the two anthros grabbed him. "Let's go home, Pigmeat!" Shouted Jam as he lead the pig back to Goodsprings. The two human-animal hybrids entered the town of Goodsprings and made their way over to their house. They brought the pig inside as he snorted and gazed as his surroundings. As a super mutant, he was a well-decorated soldier formerly serving The Master back when he was still alive. Now, he was a lowly house-pig no longer able to hurt any innocents. Life went mostly back to normal for the two friends, except for some noticeable differences. For one thing, they respected each other whole lot more now. Pheagle no longer made fun of Jam's grooming habits or smell and was more flattering towards his simian friend. Likewise, Jam stopped making fun of Pheagle's tendency to squawk randomly and peck random passersby. Pigmeat had gotten used to the role of house-pig and was fed a large helping of slop everyday. He enjoyed it more than he would care to admit, even though he couldn't admit it due to the loss of his ability to speak.

Jam and Pheagle travelled the wasteland from time to time in an attempt to find that mystical alien box. What was it? Why could it transform and body-swap people? The two had no idea what the object was or where it came from. Unbeknownst to the two, the object had returned back to its home dimension and its rightful abode: The local videogame store known as EB Games which was situated downtown. The game teleported to an empty spot on the shelf, near the door. Two really good friends made their way down to the story and entered inside. They were greeted at the door by a goofy fellow in a store-worker uniform. As the man greeted the two, the game in the back started to glow. "Woah, hey guys. Welcome to EB---" Just then, the man's face morphed into a giraffe's head. His neck started to grow massive and burst through the ceiling. The two men noticed the glowing game-box in the back, acting as if the sight they witnessed was just business as usual. One man picked up the game and glanced at it. "Huh, Fallout 4 did that? Seems like a very special edition of the game. Wouldn't you agree, Phil?" The man standing beside him smiled and nodded. "Darn right, James. Now, how about we bring that puppy to the store clerk and test out those special features." The two were enticed more by the special mystical abilities of the game than the game itself. The ability to transform was enticing, more-so than a virtual experience. It seemed that in every world, Fallout brought people closer together. And in some ways, people might consider it more than a game. It seemed like the wasteland wasn't the only thing that was wild.
Something goofy I made today in honor of Fallout 4 coming out tomorrow (Or today if you live in a different timezone) In this story, the Jam and Pheagle of a different universe travel the wasteland as mutants and friends. They happen across a mystical interdimensional Fallout 4 game-box that switches their minds and learn that the wasteland is a lot more wild than they thought. Especially when a Super Mutant shows up with a minigun! Can our heroes make it out with their lives intact? Of course, they are carrying like 50 Stimpacks and 80 Nuka-Cola cans. :D Not sure if Pheagle likes Fallout or not, but I thought 'd toss him in here because I haven't tossed him in a story in a while. AND YES, the commission is almost done, Fee-Gull. Expect it on or after Remembrance Day.
